DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT

BEHAVIOUR

They live in pairs or small flocks of up to 20 birds. They travel long distances in search of food and fiercely defend their feeding and nesting territories.

DIET

They feed mainly on fruits, pollen and nectar. They have a specially adapted tongue with a brush-like structure that makes it easier for them to collect food.

REPRODUCTION

They lay their eggs in the hollow branches of a eucalyptus tree. Both the male and the female prepare the nest and feed the young, but only the female incubates the eggs.
