DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT

The habitat of orange-winged amazons are lowland trees, tree-lined formations, also rainforests and savannas.

BEHAVIOUR

These birds love socializing. It’s common to find them in flocks with other Amazon parrots, foraging for food and protecting the group from danger. Compared to other Amazons, they are more gentle and less talkative.

DIET

They eat fruits, seeds, flowers and buds. They also look for food on crops, e.g. cocoa.

REPRODUCTION

They are monogamous birds. Nests are located in tree hollows. The female lays 2 to 5 eggs and incubates them for about 21 days. Young cubs come in close to 2 new functions after hatching. They reach sex maturity at age 3-4 years.

GOOD TO KNOW

An orange winged parrot can live up to 50 years.
