Mistletoe (Viscum album) is hemiparasite which indicates that it has capabillity to photosyntesize, but it extract water and mineral salts through haustoria from host trees. The most common subspecies prefer decidouos trees, but there are also more rare ones (Viscum album ssp. austriacum, Viscum album ssp. abietis) which hosting on coniferous trees. White ball-shaped fruits with sticky flesh are great source of food for waxwings (Bombycilla garrulus) and mistle trushes (Turdus viscivorus).
