DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT
This african parrot is found in central part of the continent. Lives on edges of savannas.
BEHAVIOUR
These parrots are seen alone, in pairs and in small flocks. They feed on the ground and on the trees. They are rather timid. When scared, they hide in the treetops. They make whistling and shrieking sounds.
DIET
Their food contains of grains, seeds and fruits.
REPRODUCTION
Nests in tree holes where 2-4 eggs are laid. Senegal parrots become mature within 2-3 years but often they start breeding much later.
GOOD TO KNOW
Kept at home, they learn to quickly imitate the sounds of their surroundings, but repeat human words less frequently than other species of parrots.
